What We Believe
Our Beliefs
The Pentecostals of Quinte is a 21st Century Apostolic Church. We are founded upon the belief that the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God.
We believe the Holy Bible is God’s true and complete Word to humanity. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
We believe there is one God, the eternal, holy, loving, all knowing, all-powerful, omnipresent Spirit, creator of all. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Timothy 1:17; Leviticus 19:2; 1 John 4:8; Hebrews 4:13; Revelation 19:6; Jeremiah 23:24; John 4:24; Colossians 1:16) He has revealed Himself to humanity as the Father (Creator), as the Son (Saviour), and as the Holy Ghost (indwelling Spirit)).
We believe in the great commission and are endeavouring to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with love, mercy and compassion.
We believe in water baptism by immersion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sin. Through baptism we identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Romans 6:3-6; Colossians 2:11-14; Acts 2:38).
We believe Jesus rose from the dead by the power of God and now offers eternal life to all who will receive His gift by faith (John 3:14-15; Romans 6:23b; Ephesians 2:4-5, 8-9).We demonstrate our faith and obedience to Him through repentance, (turning away from our sinful lifestyle); baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins; and receiving the gift of His Holy Spirit, which gives us the power to live a holy, godly life, sharing the good news of our “new birth” with others. (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 1:23)
We believe in the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. He ministers to His people through them. Mark 16:15-18; Acts 5:16; 2Corinthians 12:1-11
We believe that Jesus will soon return to Earth to receive His people to Himself and establish His righteous, eternal kingdom. (John 14:3; Matthew 25:34)

Meet Our Pastor
Shawn & Stephanie Stickler
Lead Pastor
Shawn and Stephanie began their ministry as youth pastors in Dover, Delaware. Shawn has served as a member of the North-East Christian College Board of Directors, Canadian director for the UPCI Hyphen ministry, and as Youth President of the Ontario District. He currently serves the Ontario District as North American Missions director and Presbyter. Shawn also serves on the board of directors for Grace Inn Homeless Shelter in Belleville.
In addition to her responsibilities as a pastor’s wife, Stephanie is Certified Public Accountant and the president of Stateside Tax Solutions, a company she founded. She is an active member of the Ontario District Ladies Committee and UPCI ABLE Ministries Committee. Stephanie was nominated for “Quinte’s Remarkable Woman” award and served City of Belleville as part of the city’s Economic Development Committee.
Shawn and Stephanie have served on the pastoral staff of the POQ since 2002 and were unanimously voted Lead Pastor in 2010. Each Sunday, Shawn’s dynamic teaching and preaching inspire people to pursue a real relationship with God and live with greater purpose. Through loving and practical discipleship, the Sticklers empower people to cultivate their unique God-given gifts and purposefully use them to serve the Kingdom. Their progressive leadership style and willingness to follow God’s call has led the POQ into ground-breaking territory including the development of a second campus in Trenton, Ontario.
In addition to ministerial duties, Shawn and Stephanie lead a busy life raising four children and serving the Quinte region.
